Our 2019 Joan Charnley Bursary artist Seamus Killick returns with a brand new collection of work. “Throughout my year in Germany I developed work at various residencies across Leipzig, a city which continues to inspire me in a multitude of ways. Whilst continuing to paint, I became curious about the city’s various DIY spaces and their potential for installation and performance. Whilst using painting, drawing and collage to explore ideas around adolescence, identity and advertising I began working with other artists and musicians to embody physical space and experience. It was a really pivotal point in my practice where I began to push the themes of my painting off the paper and into environments, engaging the senses and immersing people in a surreal and artificial world. ”
