‘We Play In Time’ is a photographic exhibition about Saddleworth and its Dobcross Silver Band. Artist Simon Buckley followed the brass band for a year, creating a time capsule using low-light photography, video and sound. He recorded a piece of music inspired by the history of the band and photographed Saddleworth at dusk, revealing a silent and hidden world.

Throughout the month of June the Weavers Factory Loom Shop will be transformed into Dobcross Square at dusk, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the legendary Whit Friday brass band concerts (but without the rain!)

Saturday June 1st & Sunday June 2nd
Exhibition launch with performances from Dobcross Silver Band. The band will be playing in the Loom Shop Gallery between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday - no need to book, just turn up.

Friday June 14th
Come along to the Weavers Factory on Whit Friday and enjoy the sights and sounds of Britain’s longest-standing brass band festival but without the crowds or the rain!

Saturday June 15th
Over 100 artists, designers and craftspeople have taken part in our Dobcross Quilt legacy project and on Saturday 15th June you’ll be able to watch the quilt put together in a live show and hung in the Loom Shop gallery.

Saturday June 22nd
Simon’s creative workshop ‘How to Photograph in Low Light’ has sold out but we’ll be launching new dates in the future, email Nigel if you’d like to add your name to the list

Saturday June 29th & Sunday June 30th
The final weekend of ‘We Play in Time’ begins with a talk by Simon Buckley about his time following Dobcross Silver Band and finishes with a concert at Church Fields, Dobcross.
